I purchased 2 pair of small german blue rams from my LFS last Wednesday. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to find one of the pairs breeding. They made a small concavity in the gravel for the eggs on the extreme right side of my 38gal tank.

I used my Canon 5D Mark II DLSR to take a video of them. I had to use my 100mm macro lens because there isn't much space between the tank and the wall. Unfortunately this means that the depth of field is pretty shallow in the video. On the up side though, the macro lens puts you pretty close to the action.

BTW, does anyone know of a hosting site that allows higher resolution videos? The original video was taken at 1080p (1920x1080). The video in the link is about 640x360.

Since yesterday, I have done some research on breeding rams. From what I have learned, getting them to breed is relatively easy (which explains my success). Raising the fry on the other hand is a challenge. So much far starting a new tank and raising rams . Maybe someday I'll give it a try, for now I am on the look out for something a little easier to breed and raise that will play nicely with my rams.

Thanks again and I'll post more vids if I catch my fish doing anything especially interesting.
