| Bettas are very aggressive fish. Many times when experienced breeders put them together one of them kills the other. If the female isn't ready to breed and the male is, he'll likely harass her to death. They are not nice fish to each other. |

| Oh now i understand. But if they are both ready to breed then will they kill each other if they are put together?
I love that girl she is so beutiful and winter is a very handsome boy too.
Say Hi to that happy couple for me |

| lol. I understand that. Although.... I can picture the babies in my head
How are your puffers doing?
Would a 100 litre tank be enough for a puffer? |
| |
December 3rd, 2008
|
| | Fish Master
| I'd love the babies... but they'd be mutts. No one else would want them, lol.
They're doing fine.
Depends on the kind of puffer. |

| He's a run-of-the-mill petstore crowntail betta. And I love him to death! He reminds me of the first betta I lost, and he just loves me to pieces. |

| I would love to but I have neither the time nor means to breed bettas. Plus their babies would be FAR from show quality. lol Little mutts really |

| So? Not all LFS look for quality- the one I got my swords from will happily take our fry, despite the fact that both parents are mutts (red wag tails with a touch of blue giving them iridescent side-stripes, I believe). They're planning on taking any fry we get from our platies (bah, another case of mutt fry- we got two, and one turned out to be a juvenile male that didn't show his true gender until we got him home and settled in)
Sunset platy + white MM platy = lord knows. |

| Well, too late for that... Riviera jumped out of the tank last week and I couldn't save her.. so no breeding going to happen between those two. |

| Pink great video, beautiful crown tail (I have one too).
How could she do that?! She must have been reading up on Romeo and Juliet or something. If I can't have him I'll have no one. . .
But really, sorry she's gone, she was a beauty. |

| I knew I shouldn't have let my fish read Shakespeare!
Maybe she got depressed, cause I seperated her from the others cause she was beating them all up...
Thanks, I loved her little pouty face and those cute spots she had. |

| We have to remember to tell the girls. . . there's sooooo many more fish in the sea. That usually fixes the whole depression thing. : ) |

| awww so sad... I am confused though I thought that male bettas were the only ones that were aggressive towards each other?!?! I was gunna get a male in my 30 gal tank and then add bunch of other passive fish to it, thought that would work fine? maybe I am way wrong! please enlighten me! |

| Bettas are often aggressive towards any other fish. Several of mine I couldn't even keep cories with. I would not suggest keeping a betta with another fish, let alone several. He'll be happier alone.
And yes, females are often just as aggressive as the males. |
