This video is of my male fance guppy "Twerp". His is a wonderful tale of survival....I found him in my 55g on Christmas morning, a wee little fry, unexpected, but a gift from a female fancy gup that I had just bought.
Against all odds, he survived the jaws of everyone in the tank and grew into a beautiful male with cobra pattern,,,,,stunning.
I found him around May, in the 55, going crazy, abosolutley white (!!) with no tail.....none. I don't know if he caught it in the filter, more likely someones jaws.
I pulled him, put him into a 1.75, started him on Maracyn Plus, and prayed. About 4 days later, he finally ate, and started to colour up. After about a month, I put him into my "fry" tank.
While it took most of the summer, he grew back that tail, as beautiful as before..........but along with his tail came a voracious appetite to chase the girls ......So for population control, I put him with the rainbows, whom I knew would not hurt him.
It took him a while to get the hang of eating with the rainbows, cuz they really get into a frenzy, and he would get pushed out of the way. Hysterical to watch. Soon, however, he figured it out, and now is going to live with them forever.
There is also a cameo appearance by one of my Long fin albino bristlenose plecs, " Sneaky Pete".
I'm glad Twerp made it. He is very pretty. He looks like there has never been anything wrong with him. Thanks for sharing your video with us. I love watching videos of fish.
either he's really big, or your rainbows are SMALL!
my rainbows are like 4" and my guppies are like 1" i would never have the guts to put them together.
great tank too!
Thanks Jacqui...There are splendidas and praecox in that tank....so there are some big ones. They never bother him, it is the other way around, lol, you know how the gup boys are always following either a lady gup or in this case, another fish. He is just a little smaller than the praecox.
They gave me their word they wouldn't harm him, but would probably chow down on small fry.
