Officially the damage today from the MTS enablers on FL total 2 more tanks I must have: Kate's fault I will have to get another betta tank for a Cambodian, and Minx's fault I will have to get a guppy tank.

My boyfriend is going to have me locked up for sure!

Do you only keep him with guppies, or is there other stuff in there with them too? *plots*

Edit: Wow a whole page's worth of posts since I asked that ^^ I'm slow today.

Only guppies and two tiny cory cats. i'm afraid that anything else bigger woule EAT THEM! cuz they're so tiny, like less than an inch!

The "Neighbor", is a long funny story. Its basically my husband (hockeyref88 on here)....LOL.

the betta enablers around here were trying to convince him to get a betta and he kept resisting. then he asked "hypothetically" if he got one for his "neighbor" what would he need. turns out I was the "neighbor" to whom he referred.

well...and the rest is MTS history....6 bettas later, 11 aquariums later....

I knew that Rick was your husband....but I was like....who is this neighbor I haven't heard of yet?

i'm not even sure i have a female right now...there is one little one, with a less fancy tail that MAY be female, but i'm not 100% sure.

the fish enablers are trying to convince me to get more females and make baby Picasso's

I would NOT do 5 males to 5 females, that is a mix that would keep the females more stressed than needed. 1 male could "take care of" 50-100 female guppies just fine. Infact, a friend of ours did a video diary study that showed him that one of the male guppies in his tank fought off the rest so that he was the only one breeding with the females. Almost a lion's mentality on the breeding there.

Also, the more non-breeding stock (extra male guppies in this case) you have in the tank the less fry that will survive, usually, due to being eatten by their parents and the other fish in the tank.

1m/4fm is a good ratio, but if at all possible I would never do less than 2 females per male in the tank, which is what most livebearers are sold in (trios).

good advice, when i got them, i got mostly males, cuz they were prettier.
sounds like i've got too many males to attempt any fry anyway. i don't want to get rid of them to add females.

i think i'll just enjoy what i got for now....

I'm getting three guppies, should I just get three males? will they try to kill each other? I don't want fry btw... They will be with zebra danios and cories...

I'd prefer males over females because they look more attractive!
