My Discus Are Spawning. I've bred discus before, but never this male-female color combination...



Has anyone bred this color combination before? Any ideas what the fry will look like when they mature?

I'm not sure what the fry will look like, but Dino or CWC might have some info on what traits could be dominant with your pair.

Have no idea, but they are lovely fish, and I am sure it is going to be unique and pretty! Be sure to post some pictures as they mature, I'm sure there are lots here who would be interested.

Hello and welcome to fishlore...
love to see another discus owner here! I was surprised to see a Discus that looked exactly like my little guy Casper. Your Discus that is kinda lavender/ greyish..with dark fins. I never was able to figure out what kind it was. He died about two weeks ago..
I did find a site that showed a chart on the coloration of the Discus's and what the combinations would produce. I will have to see if I can find that for you and post a link.

Kate, I'm sorry to hear about your discus (I know that we discus keepers get attached to our fish... they become more like actual pets, and not just parts of our hobby, I think). But, I'm glad to see that you have two discus, and a lot of other fish, under your care now!

LOL I was surprised to see this old thread back up. It was started Jan 31st..
Never did hear whether the Discus spawn was a success or not.
If it was... would love to know what they ended up looking like?

i love disucs you dont see very many nice looking ones around here one lfs has them but they look pretty run down. i bet they willl make beutiful babies
