Help!!!

Ok, I neeeeeeeeed help. Yesterday I got some new fish for my 20 gallon tank( 2 molly fry, sucker - died, and 3 neon tetras). I just looked in my tank to see that one fish has white stuff on it's eye, one has junk on it's lip, one died, and one has tail rot!!! I am taking the sick fish to petsmart and to get my water sampled. I don't want any of my other fish to die, or get sick. I have a spare 10 gallon tank but none of my family wants to set it up . If someone can give me a few tips that would be great!!!

been running over a year
nitrate: btw/ 80 and 160
nitrite: 0
pH: 6.25
carbaonate hardness: 50
general hardness: 140

Stock

3 neon tetras
2 harlequin rosbaras( both with fin slits but one with lip junk)
2 molly babies
1 platy( small slits in fins)
3 black skirt tetras( all with small splits in fins one with white stuff on eye)
1 flows orange and black fish(has fin rot)

I'm sorry to hear about your fish.
If you could fill in you aquarium info, it would help the members help you without having to ask about stock, water parameters, etc.
Thanks and good luck.

Hello Laur. Please fill out your aquarium information. It helps to know what's in your tank, what has been done to your tank. How long it's been set up. Is it cycled. The more information you can provide in your profile the more people will be able to help.
Best of luck
Ken

I'm no expert, battling fish disease is the worst. But your nitrates are extremely high and may be a problem. I would focus on decreasing the nitrates. You can buy de*Nitrte or Matrix (both Seachem products) to help with that but you will definitely need to do a lot of water changes with Prime or NovAqua+ and Amquel+ together. I recommend the later but most prefer the former. The nitrates probably weakened the immune system of your fish allowing them to get sick. Search nitrate poisoning, and fungus. And beg someone to set up your 10 gal.

Im sorry for your losses....see if you can find an API liquid master test kit to test your own water..relying on other pet stores allows them to be in control and try to sell you things you dont need..and MOST use test strips which are not reliable...also pick up some prime water conditioner to help with some daily water changes and to help the fish feel better

wheres the ammonia reading? if they used a test strip(which most likely they did as they dont have an ammonia test on the strips), i wouldnt count on any of those readings being accurate ...but either way, prime and daily water changes for a few weeks can help the rest of your fish....fin rot is usually a cause of bad water conditions and can heal up with the water changes and prime also....good luck!

I'm so sorry you lost your babies.
Have you done water changes to decrease the nitrate level?
It looks like you need to do water changes more often and not allow the nitrates to get so high.
Personally, I like to keep mine at 5-10 but 20 is fine.
Good luck.
