Maracyn bubbles?

Hello,

I'm currently treating my filtered, cycled ten gallon tank for a bad bout of fin rot/bacterial disease. I put the first dose of Maracyn in today, about 5 hours ago... and within the time since, the filter has begun to make almost soapy-looking bubbles.

Let me be clear: the maracyn is undoubtedly the cause. What I need to know is this: can the bubbles hurt the fish, and if they can, what can I do to get them to stop? What are signs the fish have been hurt with these bubbles?

All fish, save those suffering from the infection/rot are acting ok, and the betta female who was acting much more grumpy and sad than usual actually seems to have perked up a bit since the antibiotic was added. Maybe it's just the placebo effect in my mind, but still...

I just read your other betta and figure that this is the tank you are talking about. If you read all the directions it will tell you that is normal to turn the surface of the water like sobody put dish soap on it. Is normal with the maracyn products. I'm actually using Maracy tc for Popeye right now.

prior to your fish getting sick , did you use salt with your bettas? they cannot tolerate salt at all and that could have been what you were seeing ..not bacterial infections
