Eheim Sludge Extractor?

Hello All,

I was interested if anyone had any thoughts on this gravel vac. I have some pretty messy fish, ciclids/pleco, and thought it might be a cool little toy to have on hand, alowing me to vaccum without doing an actual water change. I also figure it would keep my water quality even better. Am I correct in this assumption? or is it a waste of money? It seems a little expensive and I would get itif the performance was there to back it up.

Thanks!

looks like a great tool for the type of fish you are describing...I have piggies also....but, water changes are a must as it replenishes nutrients and minerals that get used up by fish ....so although it would be cool for the waste producers , the water changes wouldnt be any less IMO

Thanks shawnie,

Assuming that I still keep the same water change schedule, It would still, overall, help the water quality right? I'm about to do a F&S purchase that I do every few months ;-)

it wont hurt thats for sure!!!!!! but IMO , I think its a waste as new water is needed often and the gravel vacs can do the job of the sludger LOL
..im sure others will have an opinion

before you do your purchase, check out this site http://kensfish.com/ he is fabulous and much more reasonable prices IMO once again

I was actually going to ask F&S price match another retailer as the price from them wasn't so great. I was under the assumption that F&S was THE place to go to. I'm not so sure now. Thanks for the heads up!

F & S are great but I find the shipping costs, the fast shipping, and over all prices are better at kens....no harm in comparing for sure! and I love his foods!!

IMO I would just buy a nice gravel vaccuum that you can siphon the gravel and refill all with the same equipment. It is so much easier and you get the same result plus a water change all in one thing.
