Bio-Orbs

I'm thinking of getting a Bio-Orbs, but I heard that theyre just crappy and useless, even though they look awesome.
SO, I need advice, is it worth getting a bio orb? I want to put 2 goldfish in the bio orb.

Re: Bio-Orbs

They aren't very practical and two goldfish would not be able to fit in it since they only hold 15 gallons I think. They aren't very good because the surface area is not letting you keep many fish since not much oxygen gets in the water.

Re: Bio-Orbs

For Goldfish the recommendation is 20G for the first one and 10G for the second this is due to them being such heavy waste producers.
Bio-Orbs are awesome looking but because there is such a limited amount of oxygen exchanged at the surface due to being enclosed fish don't live long in them especially Bettas which is what most people want to put in them.

They are not crappy and useless. In fact they can be very good aquariums if you know what you're doing. You can't really put goldfish in the BiOrbs because goldfish get really big and they also create lots of waste which the bubble filter probably can't handle. Even if you get the biggest BiOrb which is 15 gallons, you still wouldn't be able to keep goldfish unless you plan on upgrading to a bigger tank later on. Goldfsh live for up to 25 years and can get up to 2 feet long.

You really only have two options:

1. Go with the BiOrb and get small fish or 2. Go with goldfish and get a big standard tank.

Re: Bio-Orbs

My wife has the small 4 gallon bio-orb in our bedroom with guppies in it. With regular water changes and cleaning, it has been just fine. Just had to add a small heater.
