strange film on water

i have just been stareing at my fry tank, and noticed a patch of oily/film looking on the surfce Not sure what has caused it or how to get rid (lots of minute fry floating at the surface.....they are not going to make syphoning easy)
Does anyone know what might have caused this? Could it be because of my betta's bubblenest?
Or does anyone know of any tricks on how to get rid of it?

i have that on my tanks sometimes when the level is too high. I think its caused of lack of circulation. whenver i have that i just ise the filter a little and it goes away. i have a submersable filter thats why i have to bring it up. It should go away if you have enough water movement. Does your tank have a cover?

yeah, it has a full hood. I am a bit scared witht the filter because of the fry, i have an air pump/stone on really low. the fry are moving more confidently, should i turn the air pump up?

its from lack of surface movements and normal..daily water changes will clear that up as you should be doing them on the fry tank anyway dont turn the stone up higher it will just blow the fry around

thats the most important phase of raising healthy betta fry is your daily water changes..they cant be missed..and the film will dissipate with the changes...

Have you been feeding them? High protein foods can sometimes cause an oily or foamy film on the water.
As Shawnie said daily water changes will take care of the problem.
In a tank without a gazillion fry more water movement would help

food - liquid feed for fry no 1 - newly hatched brine shrimp from tomorrow..it is high in protein. I have tried counting them again with my boyfriend and we had to do a rough count and there seems to be over 300. a bit of a scary figure but that might help explain the amount in the 17 gal 3/4 full tank and daunting task of syphoning the water without sucking babies up
But i can see them eating now. its soooooo amazing

Yep Liquid fry food will do that
I hope your syphoning into a white bucket so you can see if you suck any up
