Oh dear...

I'm looking for a 33-40 gal tank on kijiji (sent out the ad already). The one response i've got so far is for a complete 33 gal set up for $125-$150 (this is with stand).

However I just stumbled across these two ads and I'm not sure now how great that deal is...
1) THIS ad is for a 50 gal tank and stand. I love the price, love the size... not so sure on the material...
2) just saw THIS one as well and while it may or may not be getting too big I'm not sure what I would do with all the current occupants or what to offer them for it..

What do you guys think?

I think the second is a nice looking tank! It would depend on the price though.
The first looks like some kind of show tank? Never seen something like that before.

I think that it's plywood... :s

Can you only see out the front?

that's the way it looks in the pic. That wouldn't be too big a problem since I could put it somewhere where'd you only see the front anyway. But if it is plywood then it becomes a question of leak security... I could take some silicone and re-seal all the edges. A well built plywood tank I've heard is great but I don't know if this would be one or not...

I don't think I'd risk it. Maybe one day, but not now that you're just moving & you're going away too aren't you?
I'd go with a tank that I know is trust worthy.

Hi there Red the first one looks like it was use for reptiles or some thing like that may have never had water in it.... My friend breads snakes and lizards and that looks like what he has... If you get that one you will have too check for leaks.... I like the 2sd one better.... Hope this helps Rob

I like the 60 g the best... The other one looks too boxed in...but if it already has fish with it that may be a problem. Maybe offer low and if they take it great... and if they don't just tell yourself that nothing was lost except the hassle of finding homes for the fish.

Hmmm... I didn't think of that... probably wouldn't be a good idea to get it then... I've heard that a tank that was used for reptiles is really hard to get back to fish safe...

UPDATE: Just called the guy about the 50 gal (still don't know what to offer for the 60). It's two years old. The interior is coated with marine paint. The top is glass and plywood. The rest is a material acrynom that I can't remember. (not plywood though). It held koi for awhile and most recently he had reptiles in it. However it says it should still hold water...

I'm not really sure... I'd be curious if they scratched through the paint or not...

....
Going to change this thread topic a little bit... not a lot but we'll see.
...

Ok so posted ad looking for a 33-40 gal tank would be willing to go larger depending on the price.

So now I've gotten two responces to it. Both are complete set ups. One the size I was looking for... the other twice the size... my MTS couldn't be more pumped about this new offer... expect I'm trying to be rational.

What I was looking for: an 33-40 gal tank for 3 rescue goldfish.
What has been offered: 1 33 set up (complete w/stand), 1 65gal setup (complete w/stand).

Now the 33 was basically the minimum I was looking for. The 65 is a bit larger then I'd intended. However there's like a $50 price difference between the two... If I let the 65 go I'll kick myself. But like I said 3rd floor of a concrete apartment building. University student.
<insert head banging smiley>
I shouldn't have posted the ad...

alright so I be the dust. Just e-mailed the guy to set up how to get the tank to my place. (Anyone know a good truck rental place?)
I'll post the pic he sent me of my new tank when I get a responce back from him that this is a go.
Wish me luck.
I just need to decide where to put it now...

No I didn't buy it I went with the 66 gal instead. Figured if I was going to do this I'd do it all the way.

It could have been MDF what would be wrong with that?
