| Hmm would you put a goldfish (or two) in this I did think Hagen were one of the more reputable and knowledgable suppliers of aquariums and equipment till I got info on this tank sent to me. http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/addi...e_discover.cfm
From the Brochure Quote: |
EDGE friendly species include White Cloud Mountain Minnows, betta Splendens, Barbs, Danios, small goldfish, Crystal Red Shrimps, Snails. Remember, Goldfish in particular grow so may need to be moved to a larger tank later in life.
| Not sure I would even consider a small goldfish, there is very limited surface area in the tank so I'm not sure I would see it as Betta friendly either and the heater is an optional extra! So from the above list a few WCMM's anyone? |

| I wouldn't put any goldfish in it. They are such heavy waste producers you would end up doing water changes all the time IMO. I think it would be great for a beta. What do the beta people think? |

| I don't think so on the betta, it's supposed to be filled to the absolute top - and the betta wouldn't have any room to breath. You could lower the water level, but that would take away from the look, IMO. |

| Bettas need to get to the top to breath so I am sure the betta breeders may see a fault or two as well. |

| I think it would be good for a shrimp colony. Especially with a heater in it. Or maybe a couple of african dwarf frogs - or do they need to get to the surface the way bettas do? |

| No heater! So you have this nice stylish tank with a heater plonked in it.
Its just a toy for yuppies with no idea I just though Hagen were a bit better than that. Last edited by Jonah; April 6th, 2009 at 03:18 PM.

| African dwarf frgos need to get to the surface to breathe so it wouldnt work for them either |

| If its supposed to be filled to the absolute top then surely no fish could survive unless it was a planted tank because the CO2 in the water couldnt get into the air and oxygen couldnt get into the water |

| Dang, it's a pretty tank but I could see how a betta or ADF could easily drown in there. Poor little ADF's would bang their little heads on the top the way they shoot up to get a breath. |

| very cool but i wouldn't be comfortable putting fish in there especially my bettas since thye have to get to the surface, maybe shrimp or snails or just heavily planted |

| The tank looks cool but it does not seem practical in the least. Inverts would be about the only thing I would put in it, well that or Coral but the lighting would have to be amped up by a lot. |

| It looks really nice, and with a uh... modification you could fix both the heater and the air issue. Just buy/make a nice chic wooden trim or something and run it around the top edge. that way you'd hide the lowered water line. It's just a HOB filter and you can buy (rena smart heaters?) that attache to the hobs and act like an uptake tube that heats the water. Some plants would hide the now black heater and like would be happy |

| It's a beautiful tank, but not sure how different it would be from a regular tank - besides the water line being very high.
I wouldn't pay extra for that tank, over a regular glass tank. |

| As alway Carol has a way to enable another tank.
TBH though all things considered as a desktop tank in an Office environment with the heater it would look nice with a FEW Harleqins, Neons or Endler, although no girlie Endlers |

| Is there a lid on that thing? What if you have to add a driftwood or something? |
