level tank/stand question

Recently set up a 46 gal tank. I checked the stand for level before I set it up and looked ok. Well after putting in the substrate and filling with water it now seems un-level like leaning towards the back about a 1/4 inch off level. Should I try and use shims under the stand and level or just leave as is. I dont think there is any danger of it toppling over. No fish or plants in yet.

Is it on a timber floor?
The floor may be bowing under the weight.

If the tank isnt level, it can actually cause an excessive amount of pressure from the water leaning against one side of the tank and the seams can fail prematurely. Not sure if it's going to be much of a problem with a 46 gal because not as much water pushing against the glass, but it could be something to consider.

if so the tack strip that holds the carpet is set about an inch or so off the wall, then the carpet is "set" under the baseboard, and the padding under the carpet stops short of that tack strip on the other side, could be your sitting the back edge of the stand right on that space, that would cause a slight lean towards the wall, if you where right on top of the tack strip you would see a slight lean away from the wall.

just a possibility, it aint worth pulling the carpet up to see.

if bare concrete..... low spot

I went to home depot today and bought some 1/4 inch wood strips about 2 inches wide. Drained the tank and level up the stand really well. Tank looks a lot better, problem solved. I can sleep better now..thanks
