New 55 gallon tank

Hey, for 200 dollars i can get a 55 gallon tank, the lid, the light, the filter and the heater. The filter is an Aqua Clear 300. The heater is a Rena Cal Top Light Excel 150w. The Lid is a 3 piece Black plastic lid with a fluorescent bulb. The tank is in pretty good shape and everything works. is this good equipment? is it worth the 200?

I don't know about the other stuff, but I love the AquaClears. Depending on which fish you want and how fully stocked it is you might want to add an extra filter though. (500gph would be better than 300)
I think it's a good deal. If it comes with a stand then it's a great deal.

Yeah, cleaning it shouldn't be too hard. You should see the secondhand 80g I just got, that thing was disgusting.
With some bleach or vinegar and some elbow grease you should be able to get that clean just fine.

I paid $150 for my 55 gal tank. Similar condition. My surprise was that the the equipment that came with the tank was old and out dated and ultimately it failed. Just because you have a filter doesn't mean its the right one for your application -- filters need to be sized to the number of fish you have. As for the 150W heater, I use a 200W heater in my 55 Gal tank.

Good Luck
