New tank setup

I am new to the forum. Have been out of fishkeeping for a while and want to set up a tank again. Thinking about a 46 gal bow all glass for a tropical planted. Mine will be lightly stocked(cory, neons, angels, and rams)
probably average planting layout.
Any disadvantages to using a bow tank? I know they look cool.
Can you give me any suggestions for lighting for a planted tank and filtration system. This is a great site and have enjoyed reading all the advice
and seeing your pics! Thanks-

Welcome to Fishlore! The only disadvantage to a bow front that I know of is if you want to keep bigger fish like Bala Sharks or Oscars who require more swimming space. For a community tank a bow front would look great, especially if it's lightly stocked.

From looking at what you want to stock it with, I definitely agree with Nick Goody, you should be great!

I would definitely go with fluorescent lights, they're brighter, last longer, and IMO provide "clear" light as opposed to a yellowish light.

There are a lot of great filters, and if you browse through this forum you'll be able to find some pros and cons of most major brands of filters. That would probably give you a much more thorough and accurate answer than I could!

Good Luck and welcome to fishlore!

New tank update

Well I am thinking about getting a larger aquarium (75g) that I saw today, its actually cheaper than the 46. But it means I will have to invest a little more in lighting, filtration, etc. The up side of course means I can stock more fish. I still have not decided on the type lighting or filtration system that would be best for a planted tank. But I have gained a lot of knowledege from this site and your posts. Feel free to offer any suggestions..
