Hi,
I rarely post anything, so I ask for forgiveness ahead of time for any improper forum etiquette, etc.

Like many before me, I unwittingly bought a pacu at a chain store and now it is growing exponentially. I love this fish, it is a pet like my dog and my birds. I would like to keep it for a while longer before I am forced to find it a new home. This means I have to get a tank larger than my current 75 gal. to house this big guy. Maybe a 250+ gal. But beyond that, I don't know if anything bigger would even fit my house or my budget.

But my question is simple, is it better for a pacu to have height or width in regard to tank size?

Wow- I don't know the answer, but I love the fact that you are willing to get your pacu a huge tank! But they do get enormous. What will you do when he outgrows the 250?

I'd be more inclined to go for more length and if possible, the widest tank possible. They need room to turn.
