confused on how to measure tank sizes

I bought what i believe is a 200g tank today but, i have measured it to be 84"x23"x24" (outside measurements)

some sights (like this one) say 200g other sights say 180g

if i take the internal measurements this sight comes up with a 180g tank.

do i have a 200g or a 180g tank?

Thanks

Anna

The internal measurements should determine the number of gallons.
In the end, though, the difference between 180 and 200g is pretty negligible. It shouldn't have a huge impact on stocking.

Either way, congratulations on the new tank. I would love to have one that big.

According to this table, your tank might be bigger than you think!

Hi Anna: Wow a 7footer! What a beauty you have there! Consider yourself owner of a 200USgal / 165UKgal tank! give (not take) 5-8 gals, what's the difference?

What are your stocking plans? You can go for some of the big guys! Enjoy the set-up!

I came up with 200.73g

I used the Fish Lore aquarium calculator:

thanks for the replys.

Im upgrading my 125g, it has 10 clown loaches 2-4", 3 bala sharks 4", angelfish, albino pleco and an assortment from the 55g that i sold (5 platys, 1 molly, 2 ADF, 2 false juli corys, hong kong loach and a mystery fish that should be in the local river!! - long story dont ask)

The 125g will then stock whats currently in the 90g + a few new fish?

Anna

EDIT: sorry for posting mid sentance, thought i could do a quick post while doing water changes i over flowed the 125g!! Not too badly i heard the water start trickling but enough to wet the carpet and the wall and make all the cables wet!

Anna
