How many gallons is this tank?

Hi

I recently found a 65.5" round and 44.5" high (21" Diameter) clear tub with a stand I want to turn into an aquaruim. I've already fixed up the seals and that. I just want to know how much water it'll hold.

Thanks

Your tank is roughly 67 gallons. Heres the formula

Find the volume of the tank in cubic inches first. the tank is a cylinder so you just need some basic geometry.

cubic inches = [(diameter/2)² X PI] X Height

To convert cubic inches into gallons you multiply your amount of cubic inches by .004329

so

cubic inches X .004329 = gallons

Where did you find this tub?
What did it used to have in it?
If you're planning on keeping tropicals can it be heated and filtered properly?
Does it have some sort of lid to keep the fish from jumping out?

All these questions came to mind when I read your post, I hope you've considered them.

Good luck

it was previously used as a make shift aquarium. It doesn't have a lid, they said it broke.

That would make a nice Angelfish Aquarium! You can surely find a way to at least a decent DIY canopy. I figure a canister filter would be a good, easy to install, choice for it.
