Its an oceanic 58g tank, the dem. are 36 x 18.5 w/o a center brace. The local oceanic dealer gave us a price of 50 dollars for a top, I was wondering if I could find a cheaper one, I have looked through foster and smiths website, and petsmarts......

we have the front half of the top left, when the people we bought the tank from moved they broke the top, I have thought about taking the top and getting a glass shop to make me a half for the back

I think the glass shop is a good idea. That tank is very deep (from front to back) so it may be difficult to find a hood that size. I just bought a glass hood that is 36" x 12" (a much more common size) and it cost me about $25-30.

what about plexi glass.. not exactly glass.. but cheap and can easily be cut...

We actually went ahead and bought the oceanic glass top for it. I get it this week sometime as soon as we can make it down to pick it up at the store that ordered it for us.
