Submersible thermometer? Ammonia sensors?

I like the ease of reading digital thermometers, but I don't trust those that stick on the outside of the tank. I'm not having a whole lot of luck finding one that will go inside the tank. Is there a reason for this?

I'm also considering a thermometer with a temperature alert. Is this a useful addition?

I did find this >Thermometer/Ammonia/PH< but there is no indication of how long it would be effective for. Also, The thermometer should last forever, but the PH and Ammonia sensors won't, so it doesn't make much sense to combine them together.

I do have a Seachem Ammonia Alert in my 10gallon tank and it seems to do it's job well.

What is your opinion of these sensors?

We have a digital thermometer here too. The thermometer goes inside, but the digital part stick outside too. We had them on most of our tanks at one point. The batteries die quickly and the Velcro looses it's sticky.
We had the stick in Mardel ph and ammonia sensors. They were helpful but you have to replace them every month.

I don't know about the ammonia sensor, But I just replaced all my stick on thermometers with the kind that suction to the glass inside the tank because I was getting the temp reading from the room instead of the actual water temp inside of the tank! (scary!!!)

they have thermometers that you can suction into the inside glass of a tank at walmart (and pbby a lot of other places - i just got mine at walmart).

another alternative if you want to have the same kind of display as the link you had (with the ammonia/pH) would be to buy one of those you stick on the outside of the tank, and then just stick it on a piece of plastic with a suction cup, but i'd think that just buying one would be easier
