Another leaking 10g tank

Ok in march i posted that my son's 10g sprung a leak. Well i went out and bought a 10g at Petsmart to replace it. It has also started to leak and in about the same spot. In the front bottom area. Its not leaking alot but enough to make a small puddle over time.

They both were set on a strudy desk in front of a window that always has the drapes closed. Now i dont know if its just that they are cheap tanks or that its in front of a window. All i know is that its getting very annoying.

I really like this tank too. It has natural colored medium sized gravel with several plants that are doing very well. I hate having to transfer it over all the time.

I still have the old 10g so i might try to reseal it and trasfer over to that one. I cant really keep going out and buying tanks every 2 months even if its only 10 bucks. I also cant break it down because thats were i have my male betta and he cant go in any other tanks.

That really stinks and I hope you can get them both repaired. I'd complain to petsmart, although I'd be surprised if they're helpful about it.

The desk that the tank is sitting on - have you checked to make sure it's perfectly level? An uneven stand can put pressure on one corner of a tank and may cause a problem.

If it is level, I would take one of the tanks back to the store and complain. They should take it back and they can get compensated from the manufacturer.

No tank should leak after 2 months. I just had my first leak in a tank I"ve been using for 16 years.

Even with uneven pressure, it's unlikely that a 10g could build up enough stress in two months to start leaking. It's usually the bigger tanks that you've got to worry about stuff like that, since the greater amount of water increases the pressure.

Unless the desk is sitting at like a 10 degree angle, I would say that, at the very least, there is a structural flaw in the tank. An uneven desk may be compounding this, but I don't think it could be solely responsible.

No chance that condensation is leaking down the side somewhere? We had that with our current 5gal tank until I realized I was overfilling it just a hair.

Well it hasnt leaked that i have noticed lately. It seemed to leak right after a water change. Though i never fill it all the way up because condensation gets into my lights and makes them stop working if i do. Since it has not looked like its leaking i havent really done anything yet.
