I recently was at a friends house and discoverd they had a nice 55 gallon(I think) quarter cylinder aquarium. They said they used to have a pleco in there but it had recently died. Anyways... Is there anything i should be worried about by taking this tank off their hands? It seemed pretty full of algae and gook since they havent had the filter running in a while. Not leaking as i could see. How would i go about cleaning it out to start over and actually take care of a tank? -- Nat
Get everything out of the tank.
Rinse the inside of the tank and anything you want to keep with a 5% bleach solution ( 1 cup bleach to 19 cups water).
Once you do that, rinse it again in water that has dechloranator in it, about 2-3 times the reccommended amount.
Do this 2-3 times.
At that point, you should be ready to set the tank up.
