Using Laterite

Is mixing laterite with gravel(pea-sized) good for plant growth? Will it help them grow faster? There are few unused laterite pieces in my bro's new home.

Yes it can but it'd be better using flourite b/c laterite tends to decay over time and flourite will last longer. More reasons as well.

Here's a thread @ PT for additional info and reviews about flourite & laterite

What type of plants did you have in mind?

Top of the morning Ken!

Thanks ken.
@Eiginh : I plan to add some anubias, cabomba, hygrophila and sword plants.
Thanks for the link. They recommend flourite for same reasons u mentioned. But i thought i'll give a try though in some smaller tank than throwing away those laterite stones.
