Hello,

I have a 5g that I want to aquascape. It will hold 1 male betta (Merlin). Right now I just have some Molly fry chilling out in a homemade breeding/fry net.

I was thinking about just marbles for the substrate (I don't like the totally bare bottom look, but I also don't want sand or gravel, which I have in the other tanks).

Before I go to the kids section and stock up on marbles, can some tell me if this is a bad idea.

I don't think so I used it for all my Betta Tanks (9 at one time) and my goldfish Tank too LOL I had no problems

Woohoo! Thanks. I was really hoping it would be okay. I'll post pics as soon as I'm done redecorating (I'm a bit type-A about this, though, so it may be a while)!

I had flat glass marbles that I got at the Dollar tree in mine and they worked really well. Looked great too
