Why do I need gravel ?

I have Javas on driftwood and Cory Cats.
Why do I need gravel ?

I Have a few bare bottom tanks with just java moss.but its mainly for my fry tanks

fry require more water changes and prestine water conditions...its much easier to keep the tank clean ....

I just put a new 2 bub All-Glass top on my tank. The "door" seems too narrow for my gravel suction.
So I though " No gravel, smaller suction".
"Javas don't need gravel."
"It might work."

That might work but you'll still have to get the waste off the bottom of that tank..That is weird that your "door is too small...

I took another look.
It is not so much that the door is too small. It's that the light is so wide that it keeps the door from opening all the way. The light can't move back because the filter is too wide.
I am handicapped so i will need to get my friend to look at it for me.

Well Cories like sand to dig around in.. and that is easier to clean than gravel...
