| substrate for Convicts..
just wanted to know on what substrate you all keep your cons in. Sand or gravel?

| When I had them I used sand and gravel. They liked them both..lol..They love to dig so the sand might be a bit easier for them to hold in their mouths and move around. | |

| No I had gravel and then I changed it out for sand. They move and dig in the substrate using their mouths. It's really a cool site to see. They scoop it up with their mouths hold it and spit it out some where else. | |

| LOL Tony you better be prepared I am pretty sure all of their babies survive and they love to lay eggs...ask Shawnie. I have mine with gravel and they rearrange all the time. I have a flowerpot full of eggs AGAIN that I found today. Which ones are you getting the regular black stripe or pink...I like both imagine that. | |

| Cichlids like to dig a lot and they like all kinds of rocks and gravel you have. If you like sand AND gravel, you should consider getting some fine(small) gravel. that's what i did. lol  | |

I would rather have striped cons. Hehehe i would OVE a pair of yours 
the problem is that i live in another country, and i dont think you can ship liv fish to mexico. I wish tho | |

I haven't kept cons all that much, i didn't even get time to take any pics. here's the thread: Got my convict. I was considering getting some more for a while but i returned him and got a kribensis instead because i wanted a community. he's still kind of touchy but much less aggressive | |
