What is this strange growth on my gravel

from the pic, which is still hard to tell, it looks like left over food and algae which kinda looked the same on your java moss....food that isnt eaten or vacuumed up, will get that fuzzy look of mold on it....maybe some other members have a better insight , but thats my guess

I agree with Shawnie, it looks like whats on the java moss....possibly moldy food.

it will continue until its cleaned...pieces of flake food can attach to the moss..happens in my tanks too.... I have to swish it around to get all the food off frequently (if the fish miss it )
