Last night I put pool filter sand in my 30 gal tank. The water was only cloudy for a few minutes. The sand just sunk to the bottom. Maybe the filter sand that I used is heavier than the sand used by tototime. My problem is that I only put half of the gravel in pantyhose because I had 3 inches of gravel in that tank. (I put used extra gravel in case I needed to cycle a new tank). Hopefully the tank won't go through a mini cycle now.

I wish that there were more color options for pool filter sand. The light beige color does nothing to hide fish waste. I know that aquarium sand comes in shades of white, tan, black, etc. but pool filter sand is soooo much cheaper.

I think one of the problems with mine was that I used fluorite in the bottom layer because i have plants. I then covered it with pool filter sand
