How can I build a 50 ft gravel vacuum that plugs into my sink?

I'll need it to be able to suck up detritus from my tank as well as refill my tank.

Or I'll buy one....

You can google a DIY python, but instead of buying all of the different pieces, what I did is buy a 50 foot water hose and the piece that attatches it to our sink. I just fill the hose with water before I start siphoning and then let it run out the end that ISN'T in the tank. The suction does the rest. The attatchment was about $4.50 and the hose was around $8.50.

I think most kitchen sinks should be able to take an adapter like that, but my, say, bathroom sink cannot. So check that out

I use a new garden hose, put a connector on one end that fits my siphon and the other end goes out side to water the garden. Then when I'm finished pulling the water out I bring the end thats outside in and attach it to the sink . Remove the siphon and now I'm ready to put water back in the tanks. anjust your water temperature at the sink and add dechlor as you start putting water back in the tank.

I just drain mine into the bathtub, so it doesn't matter how high you are.
