Very Inexpensive Pool Filter Sand!!!

Hello Fishlorers...or is it Fishlorians? Or Lords of the Fishes? It's my first ever post here!

I went around town (Chicago suburbs) today looking for some new pool filter sand... For anyone in my area, I must recommend the pool supply chain called The Great Escape. They sold me a 50lb. bag for about $3.50. The sand is very clean out of the bag, the first rinse seemed to produce clear water. It's a creamy-white color sand, seems to be quite uniform in grain size and shape.

I was expecting the employee to give the usual odd look when I mentioned that it was for an aquarium, but to my surprise he told me he uses it for the same purpose as well.

Anyways, just thought I'd post the link. I don't believe they list the sand on the website, but they certainly had stacks of it at the store.

wow that's cheap ! I just bought some yesterday at a local pool company, $12 for a 50lb bag . Before that I was at Petsmart picking out some new driftwood, noticed they had a 20lb bag of "aquarium sand".... for $25.00 !!!!!!!! What a rip off.... but I got a good laugh out of the "aquarium sand" labeling.

It cost us less than $30 to buy enough PFS for a 120 gallon. I've been using it for years and I'm a big fan.
