The Burning Question? Flourite or Eco-Complete

I am trying to decide on a substrate for my 45 gallon planted South American Themed tank and after weeks of research have still only narrowed my choice down to a Flourite/Sand mix or Eco-Complete. I would like to hear what others who have had experience with Flourite or Eco-Complete think.

I am currently using eco-complete in this tank. Tank Update With Photos I don't know how good it will be in the long run I was told by a fellow at the LFS who does terrariums that it does deplete after a while. The tank has only been running for a month but the plants have been growing like weeds.

most website forums suggest flourite from whatr iuve seen as i too am looking at a planted tank soon, but the eco-complete tanks look superb when maintained, as blowphish said they grow like weeds. personally im going for flourite/sand

i have fluorite/sand in one of my tanks, i'm not a huge fan of it, but that's because it's messy and i'm pretty sure that eco complete would be just as messy. my plants are growing though !

I have flourite with about 15% inert gravel mixed in for extra dimension in my 55. Plants are growing well.

You'd think so, especially if you look at it in the bag, but I swear that the stuff is the single easiest substrate to use. You just pour it in the bottom of the tank and fill. No rinsing, the water runs clear within minutes. The stuff is absolutely amazing.
I have also worked with fluorite/sand, and like you, my biggest complaint is that it's a pain to work with (especially setting the tank up).
Go with EcoComplete!

I like my ecocomplete. It settles pretty well actually.
