Trying to find pool filter sand

Hi. I am planning a new loach tank and I want to put pool filter sand in. I have called 3 places (most are closed for the season) but 3 have pool filter sand. They all say it is brown or sandy colored. I want white. Does anyone have white pool filter sand and where did they get it? Can they post a pic?
Home depot is out of pool filter sand for the season.

Any pool place will have the sand but probably not white, the reason being is because the sand goes into a sand filter and you never see it. Therefore they don't usually carry different colors of sand. The reason I know this is i have a pool and I have done part time work at a pool and spa place.

Your best bet would be to either wait until home depot has it or..... try your LFS I know my lfs has white sand, black, brown etc. Keep checking around you'll find it.

I'd say at least look at the sandy colored (if you haven't already), under fluorescent lighting it looks fairly white, especially if, like me, you have a dark substrate underneath (for plant growth).

I was able to find my sand at a pool supply store just last week, but I also live at the beach and in a fairly warm climate so perhaps that may have been a factor.

Thanks everyone. I am going to check out the ones I called about over the phone in person. It is true that it will appear lighter in flourecent light. And I did call Walmart and they said they only carry it seasonally, but maybe they still have some lingering on their shelves from the summer.
There are 2 other stores around here I can call and one is open only fridays and saturdays, and the other is open only until 11am regularly. Thats what I get looking for pool supplies in NJ in December.

Definitely...true white, under fluorescents, can be nearly blinding...you might end up happier with sand that's a wee bit off-white. If nothing else, the price different between pool filter sand and, say, CaribSea Moonlight White sand will cheer you up immensely I think

Good luck! I was carrying 50lb bags of pool filter sand out to my car last week over snow and ice, in negative temperatures...be prepared for some odd looks
