rock moss safe?

I'm about ready to put some nice sized red lava rocks in my tank and I notice they have moss in the cracks and pours.....should that be safe?

Hi,i allways boil every thing like that first before putting it in my tank ,so this would kill the moss and sterilize the rock then it should be fine, boff.
