black sand help

I have just found some babies!!! Don't know who the mother is but they look like guppies, there is 3 i don't know when they were born and i have just added some more plants to my tank to give them some protection and somewhere to hide.

When i moved one of the banana lillies that was in the tank and the sand that was around it was black, from reading other post about this, i now know that it is a build up of yuck and i cleaned it up,

I found two small areas and i just sucked out as much of the black sand that i could, it was about 3/4 of a cup all up, where both the lots of black sand was, i have banana lillies,.

Would the roots on these plants be stopping my eel and khuli loaches from getting into the sand to aerate it, no where else in tank was black.

Do i need to replace all the sand in the tank or just stir up the sand.

Should i remove the banana lillies.

Any help that you can offer would be great, i am not looking forward to removing all the sand, it is a 120 lt - 3 foot tank.

thanks in advance

Just a thought, but were they in black sand when you purchased them? I know you said you have 3/4s of a cup..but when i bought plants, they had a lot of sand in their roots from the pet store although not 3/4s of a cups worth..

No, they were just in a tank of water, nothing was on the roots they were clean, they have been in my tank for about 6 weeks.
