What "flavor" of pool filter sand do you use?

I'm trying to find pool filter sand to replace the gravel in my tank. First I can't find it anywhere in town (not many can sell pools in a place where it rains all the time) so I go to look online and lo and behold there are lots of different types all claiming to be the best for your pool because of factors X, Y, and Z. So what I want to know is:
What kinds of sand are you all using?
Where did you get it?
How much do I need for my 10g tank? (I realize I will probably need to buy a big bag)
How deep does my sand floor need to be?

I used play sand from home depot. But for your other two questions...

I used 100lbs in my 55 gal and that was plenty. I would get about 2lbs of sand per gallon assuming it's a long tank and not a tall that way you will have enough to decide how much you like in the tank.

For depth, go with what looks good to you, but keep it under about 5-6in. Depth should not be a problem assuming you are going to be stirring it or having some snail stir it for you.

I just bought a 50lb bag of pool filter sand for a 10 that i am changing to sand. It was $11.87 for 50lbs and its cleaner than play sand. I just Googled the closest pool supply store and went a grabbed it...
