Gravel Vacuuming

I'm going to be doing a water change today and am going to be vacuuming the gravel....but I'm getting very frustrated....I have about 1.75" of gravel in both tanks with a mixture of both fake and live plants..I wouldn't say that my tanks are crowded with plants..but I have enough to provide cover and look good...the problem is...I have always read that the proper way to vacuum is to go right to the bottom of the tank with the vacuum tube and move it around...and it seems to be pretty much impossible to do without recking the entire tank...it makes me wonder...cause I have seen some of the peeps here that have tanks that are very lush in plants...how the heck to they do it ?

Can anyone here give me some pointers...I'm very frustrated...LOL

Hi Sunstrip...
as I cannot give you a fail safe way to vacuum your gravel with all the plants around. I can say that I also have a heavily planted tank with real and fake. All I can really say is that you just have to go ever so carefully as close to the base of the plants as possible. Your not going to get everything up, but you can get the most up and its ok to leave something behind..
