question about eco-complete substrate

Hi,

I am new to the hobby and I am planning on starting my first tank soon.

I am planning on getting a 10 gallon tank (my school doesn't allow tanks larger than 10 gallons in the dorms), and I want to stock it with 2 dwarf gouramis and 3 kuhlii loaches, as well as some elodea plants.

I think I want to use eco-complete as my substrate, but I have a few question about it.

First, from what I have read, eco-complete comes with a bacteria bed built in, does this mean that it would shorten the cycling process?

Secondly, I know that Kuhliis like to burrow. Is eco-complete fine enough to allow them to do this without hurting themselves?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Yes, it will shorten your cycling. As does adding plants.
Yes, it is fine enough for kuhliis to burrow in.
