Hello Steed. I've added fresh, washed, egg shells to my tanks for a calcium. Here are two links on Mystery Snails that will also tell you other ideas for adding Calcium.
Question: Mystery Snail Care?
Mystery Snails
Also, some members have actually added calcium tablets for human consumption and it's done quiet well. Also feeding the snails fresh zucchini will give them more calcium.
On another note...your pH levels really need to be above 7.0 or the acidic water will eat at the snail shell.
Best of luck!

I, personally, have had good luck adding human calcium. I use oyster shell calcium pills. I add a pill or two to my 60gal and 30 gal after doing water changes for my snails. This seems to really help them out and I have several golf ball sized snails after only a few months.

my ph is 7.4........ can my "high" ph be countered just by supplementing calcium for them?

Your pH of 7.4 should be fine for your snails.

okay.... but my main question hasn't been answered are those white areas calcium shortage or soft water?
:EDIT: also... would adding calcium (such as throwing in egg shells in my tank) cause a ph flux and will it be okay for my fish

Hello Steed. I have gold fish in with my snails and the eggs shells. Your fish will be fine. I haven't noticed any changes in my water perimeters since I've added the egg shells a while back.
To answer your question, yes. If your water is too soft they will not be able to develop a good hard shell. They need hard, calcium enriched water. (this is answered in the Mystery Snail link I gave you
