I bought a FW mussel, what is the ideal temp to keep them at? I currently have the tank at 75 F, also will I need to add some special food for it?

They are cold water fish, so 60-75 would be okay.
Im pretty sure they are filterfeeders.

Bummer they are cold water. I was thinking of one or two for my tropical tank.

Do they do ok with goldfish (at lower water temp), or do they get pecked/stressed?

For a tropical tank, freshwater clams are a good alternative to river mussels if you can find them. I have 3 in my tank, and the most I usually see of them is their tongues sticking out of the sand, but that's pretty fun.
