Can someone identify this freshwater shrimp?

He's about 3 1/2 inches long and came with a dozen ghost shrimps i added to the tank. He's been going after my smaller fish. Is he just a big arse ghost shrimp?

Welcome to Fishlore!

I do not believe that is a ghost shrimp.

However, I am unsure what shrimp it is.

Since a lot of ghost shrimp are wild caught, there is no telling what it might be.
There are hundred of known freshwater shrimp species.

Cool shrimp!! It Looks like it may be a Macrobrachium rosenbergii or in that species of shrimps. Its not a g shrimp. I have a feeling it will eat your small fish though if it can catch them!!! Do you have another tank to house it??

(EDIT: It might be Macrobrachium Dayanum....? I think its in that shrimp/prawn species somewhere, there are so many under the Macro species.) Depending on where you live it might be a local shrimp species to your location, since I know I have gotten a couple local critters from feeder fish and g shrimp here where I live in Florida.

No, i'll probably just leave him in the tank and let him have at the fish. I'm in denver, colorado and I don't think there are too many fresh water prawns out here!
