Shrimp and hair algae

ok i am wondering...

I have a 14g tank that is slightly overstocked already... i also seem to have had some light issues because now i have a monster hair algae issue... If i were to add ghost shrimp or cherry shrimp (ghost being easier to buy for me since it is rare that my lfs has cherry shrimp) would they clean up the algae? I currently have 6 serpae tetras and 3 albino corys so i thiink shrimp would live fine, but i am hoping the serpaes will possibly eat the eggs if the shrimp start mating...

I am hoping to get a 55g soon however money is kind of short right now... so if it looks like they are going to be that intrusive i will try some pawn shops and see if i can get something sooner that i can move my fish into...

Thanks for any help u may be able to give...

What color algae? I found our cherry shrimp LOVED the green hair algae.

Serpaes will eat eggs and even small baby shrimps. So, your tank won't be over-run with Cherry Shrimps for a while.

Stocking rule for Cherry Shrimps = 3 o 4 per gallon.

Its all white algae... it was so bad at one time that the water started turning milky... partly because it stopped up my filter...

we have a little bit of hair algae in our 29gal. and we have 6 ghost shrimp. Our shrimp dont really seem to care for the hair algae.. We also have Siamese Algae Eaters and they work wonders on the tank...
