They are becoming available in the US. I've found two places that sell something called Ninja shrimp, though I'm concerned that they're trying to pass off a different breed. Other than that, shipping is more than I can afford right now. If they allowed people to pick orders up, I would have had my wife pick some up when she was in Arizona, but they only ship, they don't allow people to visit.
The true Amanos are, or at least seem to be, the basis for the Caridinia and NeoCaridinia (spelling unsure) species. The NeoC, in particular, seem to have been specially bred for aquariums, and encompass a wide range of colors that would be highly undesirable in the wild, as they would attract predators.
