Anyone have any suggestions for what might be a good Invertebrate tank mate with African Cichilds? From what I've been hearing so far it's not a good idea

It works just fine, as long as you do not wish LIVE inverts with them.
I have heard of some people using the blue creyfish, but usually with less than desired results.

I have a Cobalt Blue Crayfish living happily with my Oscar. They are of equal size currently. About 5in. The oscar of course is growing exponentially. I swear hes bigger every day. He pays no mind to Levi, the crayfish. They are in 150 Gal tank with a few other 7-10 in fish. I don't know if he'll continue his disinterest when he is mature. I hope so. By that time I hope to have everyone moved to a 3 or 400 Gal setup

i have 2 craws, 1/2 blue&red & the other red.. when they get close they like to fight for while, but move on. i have a Dempsy, Oscar (2) & a Green terror. 2 pictus cats & danios. No problems on either side. Even though the big b&r craw goes when & where he wants, especially at feeding. Haven't even seen him go at any of the fish except to move them out of the way when he's on the move,

A nice medium sized crawfish would be okay. My brother's crawfish was bigger then all of his fish that should be good but then the shrimp snatched up one of his fish by the tail the fish got away with a rip in his tail.

I would be VERY careful with this. I just got rid of my crawfish, because she went VERY native, i.e. trying to catch anything in the tank with her, including fish, my hand, the vacuum. She's in a pond now, that has some very big fish in it and I can go visit when ever I like. The guy I gave her to says she should be fine, but I'm not even sure of that. LOL

I watched my craw take down my oldest fish...cut him in half, actually. SHe'd done it before.

Bascially, you are warned, as far as I'm concerned. Crawfish are not to be taken lightly with other fish. If they haven't gotten a fish yet, they will. Just give them time and a closed space to use, any size tank is too small for the fish in it, if there is a crawfish/lobster involved.

Oh yes vicious killers they are. I have one that is Maybe 2, 2.5 inches long. I also HAD a 3 inch long tire track eel. The crawdad grabbed the eel right out of a bush. When he finished eating, which wasn't long, he had dragged the skeleton, yes skeleton, over to his cave and coiled it up by his front door. It was like he was displaying his victory, "I have Slain the Dragon!" or something.
