Sand Stirring

Hey guys Im getting a 25g tank with some fish and sand. I was told to get MTS to stir my sand around but i also heard they reprduce like crazy and are hard to control. What can i use besides MTS? or should i just stir it myself with a stick.

I'll be getting
1 male dwarf gourami
5-6 kuhil loaches
6-7 black phantom tetras.

Thanks

Stir with a stick.
They only over populate if you over feed.

Before I had MTS I used a soda straw and would stick it down in to the sand about every couple of inches. The kuhlis will also help keep it stirred.

Well this will be my first tank so over feeding might be a possibility.

How often would i have to stir? Is once a week before my water change ok?

I wanted to commend you, Yappe, for allowing yourself to be aware of the fact that you aren't perfect. That is a trait that few of the newcomers to the site possess, and I wanted to make sure you knew that it is very awesome to see a newbie to the fishkeeping world understand that they are going to make mistakes.

Even us old timers over feed occasionally. I know I do, thats why I do extra water changes
