Sad news

I found my crayfish dead, so now I don't know what to do with the feeder guppies, I had just bought some more today and then I found the crayfish was dead. It is really sad that my cray has died. Mr.Pinchy, you will be missed.

Re: Sad news

That's too bad. He never even got to enjoy his risotto.

Is this what prompted the hibernation question?

Re: Sad news

Pretty much, I thought it looked a little slugish and I found out why just a little while ago.

Re: Sad news

Okay, I'm sorry to make light of your loss, but it's stuck in my head and will only leave if I write it down.
The feeder guppies were moving him around like a puppet in order to get you to rescue more of their underfed brethren from the pet store.
Again, I'm sorry, but it demanded to be released.

On a more serious note, do you have any idea what might have done him in?
Had he molted at all? Does your water have iodine? (necessary for molting) How does one test for iodine?

Re: Sad news

What do you mean rescue their underfed brethren? Is that saying that I saved those feeder guppies from being killed? It had molted about 4 times before this sad time. I think that since I had been feeding it crickets is what had killed it, since the first cricket, it didn't have any interest in eating and it didn't even fight beck when I picked it up to change the water in the tank.

If there's no crayfish in the tank, it would be saving them.

Oh well, my sense of humor is off again. I'll have to get it realigned.

Re: Sad news

my cray is named Mr pinchy too lol i guess it isnt all that creative a name but i have had mine almost 3 weeks and still no molting he eats everything but only comes out of his house at night i guess its because my gourami is a bully. i only feed him sinking wafers and frozen krill pluss what ever he finds

Re: Sad news

I named it Mr. Pinchy because of the Simpsons show when Homer grows that lobster until large enough to eat. But mine came out all the time, probably because it was always out in the wild and didn't have to fear about coming out to play since there were many many rock caves.
