| Re: Do crayfish hibernate? The answer to the question in the body of your post is "Yes." There are lobsters that have been entirely frozen and have woken up when they were thawed. This is why, when you get frozen whole lobster, they often will now have bands on their claws, because people have been hurt.
As far as hibernation, I'm not sure if they really enter a hibernation state, or if they just slow down in response to water temperature. (there is a difference. Some squirrels, for example, don't truly hibernate, but their bodies slow down, so they can sleep through the worst days of winter) I believe that true hibernation involves more or less a set amount of time that an animal will sleep for. |
