Does anyone have any experience with captive fiddler crabs? I had one male and finally got him a female and he's MUCH happier. They actually mated, we caught them in the act and could later see the eggs on her stomach, under a "flap" of sorts. I couldn't find much info at all on captive habits, but it seems now the eggs are gone and from what i've found i don't expect to ever see them again. If she did let them go they would be quickly munched up by the fish. She still stands out of the water for hours with her "flap" open... is this normal? She only had the eggs for a few days which i've read is not long enough.. could she have aborted? Is it possible to get her to fully develop the eggs?
from what i have read fiddler crabs need deep substrate to breed. they also need access to dry land there is a good write up at aqualandpetsplus.com look them up it is very informative
