They are truly a BW fish, but really, they are kept in FW at stores & by many people. If you do keep them in BW, make sure to acclimate them SLOWLY, raise the silanity SLOWLY, as they are kept in FW in the stores and the change would come as a shock.

Im going to put them in fresh.

Theres no sense in going through the extra work unless i wanted A BW tank.

Thanks!

Well, for the long-term health of the fish I would strongly suggest acclimating it to brackish water. Just because LFSs sell dragon gobies in FW doesn't mean it's the right choice for the health of the fish.

I agree with this.
If keeping a fish in water where it will thrive isn't worth the work, we shouldn't get one only because we want one.

What a great way to put this. I could not agree more. If we as fishkeepers are not willing to provide the best environment that we can for a particular species, then that species is best left in the shop.

Correct. In any case he can just get a freshwater eel such as a peacock eel, those arent exactly "dragon gobies" but still look a little alike such as their both long bodied for starters and have probably similar swiming patterns. But if your willing (at the person who wants the goby) to put an extra effort to get that fish then just get a brackishwater aquarium and you can even put bumblebee gobies with it too(Of course depending of the size of your tank). Btw put in some sand with that fish. Dragon gobies are more or less bottom dwellers and their sensitive skin will get harmed without the sand plus it looks nice. And if your using sand you need to sift it every other day. Provide lots of hiding because these species tend to be on the shy side and will only feel better when hidden for a while(such as a week or two then they will probably come out of hiding). It is to my knowledge that brackishwater changes as in the levels of salinity slowly go up from time to time and slowly go down. If possible try mimicking that for best results (just no full saltwater) they eat blood worms just so you know.
