Just some pics of my tanks! first up is my 10 gallon puffer tank, which houses Hulk, my first puffer (he didnt want to come out for pics) and my newly rescued (from the death trap that is walmart) green spotted puffer Booger, who had just eaten more than his share of food when the pictures were taken. The next ones are of my 20 gallon community, with the best pictures i could get of my serpae tetras and tiger barbs, and also my favorite fish, JJ the rainbow shark. He was my first fish and has somehow survived everything that has happened with my tanks and every generation of fish that i bring home. enjoy!
I'm glad too, about every week or so they get in a new batch of puffer fish, and in a few days half of them are almost black due to illness and mistreatment. One day I went in there and Booger, my little guy, was the only one who came to the front of the glass, and he was the only one who looked relatively healthy. I knew I would eventually need to get him and Hulk a bigger tank, but I couldnt let him suffer like the rest. Also, I dont know about wal-marts around everyone else's area, but the one near my apartment just got in a shipment of "tattooed baloon-belly mollies" basically white mollies that have been dyed with purple polka dots and green lines and such. If your wal-mart sells these fish, i recommend calling the store and complaining about them selling dyed fish. I did.
Looking good on the tanks. Love the puffers! Our wally-world doesn't sell fish, i've been to walmart all over the place in our travels and only one sold fish. i didn't even know walmarts anywhere sold them before hearing about it here at fishlore. It doesn't surprise me that walmart would sell dyed fish - they're not exactly known for their ethical business practices.
thats strange...all the walmarts around my area sell fish, some take better care of their fish than others. One of the nicer ones around here actually have substrate and plants in their tanks. I'm gonna try and get some more pictures of my puffers, they are my little boys. If I can ever get hulk to come out, he's awfully shy for a puffer. I was apprehensive about putting two in the same tank, due to their aggressive nature, but Booger is about half the size of hulk, and hulk almost acts like a big brother or a father to the little guy, they hang out in the same areas and Hulk wont eat until Booger is done. It actually kinda fun to watch. Maybe i can get a picture of them side by side.
yes all the walmarts sell fish in our area. The one by us had awful tanks and then they renovated and whoever is doing the tanks now is doing a much better job.

Great names on the puffers btw. wish you had a vid of them eating, they're excellently behaved puffers it sounds like and that's really cool the way Hulk doesn't pick at his Booger..
when i figure out how to load vids on here or somewhere else, I will certainly post on of them eating. Booger needs to learn not to eat so much so fast, as he tends to list to one side when he fills his little elastic belly.

The Wal-Mart by me stopped selling fish, thankfully.* I couldn't help but look every time I went there, but it always made my heart break.
The two wal-marts in my area both use to have fish but one stopped selling them cause it looked liked all the tanks had some really bad algae, I bought an oscar from there and its mouth was deformed and it looked like two face from batman so I named him harvey dent and I thought he was gonna starve but I had it for 7 months now and it is still doing good, the wal-mart that i bought harvey from a regular associate had to get the fish for me.
