| Gorgeous. Hopefully the tough little guy pulls through ok.
TIP: Next time your acclimating fish cover the bucket with a towel so the cat can't see what's in there. |

| Am I the only one around here that has two cats, both only interested in drinking the "nice fresh clean water mmmmmm", instead of the contents of my tanks?
My 2ft was set up for a few years, without coverglass, and my cats were never interested in the fish, just drinking the water! Even when Bubbles ( goldfish) would start deliberately splashing the surface to tease the cats....
(I never said I don't have an interesting household... )
Harpua - I have never seen badis before, so thanks for sharing the pics! They are beautiful! Have faith, he will pull through. |

| Thanks guys, they are really cool fish and they are already coloring up in the planted tank a lot more than they did in the barebottom I had them in. Quote:

| Thanks lorabell and Shawnie!
Shawnie, I haven't been able to find much but basic info about these guys. Seems they aren't very common. What I've learned about them so far is that they are Indian fish and they behave a lot like dwarf cichlids in general and when spawning. They can change color rapidly, as well as change the pattern on their bodies. When we get the garage converted into a fishroom, the pair will get their own tank and we will attempt to spawn them. |

| Well, I have only had them since Sunday, but I can tell you what I've noticed so far.
When we got them, we set up a bare bottom 10 gallon in the bathroom (the auction should've been AFTER we got the fishroom going, lol) with a piece of driftwood and a bunch of java moss. I thought they would settle down after a couple of days. They didn't- they looked stressed and washed out in color. Yesterday I decided to put them in Cowboy's tank after losing him. It's a heavily planted, mature 10 gallon. Even after the cat attack, their color looked better immediately after going into the 10, and they were actively exploring. I would say that a lot of plant cover and subdued lighting is necessary for these fish to be comfortable.
I think that these fish would do well with calm tank mates. Mine are with a small platy and a couple of pygmy cories and they haven't bothered each other. They seem comfortable in a 10 gallon, but I wouldn't put them in anything smaller. |

| LOL, hopefully we can get them breeding and raise the fry (that's supposed to be difficult because the fry are so small). If we are successful, I'll let you know for sure! |

| They're beautiful fish. What size to they max out at?
Good luck, it sounds like your fish is well on the way to healing. Quote:

| Those are definitely awesome looking fish! Do they require similar pH parameters as cichlids as well? Any idea what their maximum size is?
